Scope and Contents note

This collection consists of small magazines known as 'Zines, handcrafted by students in Professor Maylei Blackwell's Chicano Studies class in March 2005. Topics include: Aztlan, bilingual education, Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), charter schools, Che Guevara, Chicana feminism, the Chicano/ Latino urban experience, Chicano/ Latino education, Chicano rap, Children's literature, Cinco de Mayo, colorism, family, Filipino-Mexicans, film, futbol, gangs and prisons, hip hop, immigration worker programs, Jose Guadalupe Posadas, La Raza, Latina artists, Los Tigres del Norte, machismo, maquiladores, the media, music, Oscar Zeta Acosta, pachucos and pachucas, pop culture, racism, Real Women Have Curves, reggae, salsa, sex, Spanglish, street vendors, Teatro Campesino, urban culture, Vietnam, the Virgen de Guadalupe, Zapatistas, and zoot suiters. All are subjects focus within the heading of Chicana/o Studies.

This collection consists of small magazines, also known as 'Zines. They are on a range of topics but all within the heading of Chicano Studies. They were hand crafted by the students of Professor Maylei Blackwell's Chicano Studies class at UCLA.
