Biography

Lysa Flores is a first generation Xicana punk musician, artist, producer, and director born and raised in East Los Angeles, California, her parents from Jalisco, Mexico. She is notable in her early contributions to the Los Angeles punk movement as a teenager through the 90’s, from starting a record business, various bands, and developing her own record label “Bring Your Love” by 1997.

She is credited with international music tours (Jonathan Richman, John Doe of X, Flaco Jimenez) and long-time collaborations amongst pioneers within her home scene (Alice Bag, David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, El Vez [Robert Alan Lopez], DJ Bonebrake of X). In film, she was recognized with an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her music productions in Star Maps (1997), regarded as the first of its kind soundtrack to include both Mexican rock and American rock.
